History
Fjordlyst Holiday resort is established with basis in the former Aabenraa Youth Hostel and Camping.
The youth hostel was built in 1937 and expanded in 1967.
The camping site was originally made in 1953 in one or more former gravel pits.
The site has been expanded and rebuilt in several rounds, latest in 2003/2004 where the site has been expanded from holding 70 units to now
holding 150 units, and at the same time upgraded from 1 to 3 stars classification.

Fjordlyst is located on the highest hill in the Southern part of Aabenraa, with a grand view of the town and the inlet.
The highest point is 27m. above sea level.
On the camping site there is a difference in altitude of nearly 20 m.
from the highest point to the lowest lying area on the site.
Since the installation has existed in so many years
there are big old trees which together with the hilly terrain creates many beautiful and unique camping areas.
Latest has there been established 2 new areas with marked areas suitable for families with children.
That the hill has been an attractive site for many years there is no doubt. In the garden by the hostel lies a well preserved burial mound from the bronze age.
Even then, for more than 3000 years ago, the area was inhabited and used as a gathering point.
